TLV320AIC33: Win CE drivers

Part Number: TLV320AIC33
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3254, TLV320AIC3262

Team,

My customer is looking to replace SGTL5000 audio codec chip with our TLV320AIC33.

How do they obtain obtain the Win CE 5.0 drivers?

More up to date drivers for WEC7 (Windows Embedded Compact 7, our device OS), would be even better.

Thanks!

Viktorija

  • I am the customer that asked the question, specifically, the part we are interested in evaluating is TLV320AIC3254 (with the DSP on the chip), we want to do echo cancellation in a hands free Bluetooth solution. We would be looking for the WinCE drivers for the TLV320AIC3254 part.
  • Hi, Manuel,

Welcome to E2E, thanks for your interest in our products.

Regarding your question, I must say that currently we are not supporting driver development for our devices, so unfortunately we don't have a WinCE driver for the AIC3254. There are a couple Linux drivers available in the web, I'm not familiar with the Os integration difference, but maybe could be used as reference.

Also, I need o add that the miniDSP of the AIC3254 has limited processing, so it is not capable of performing effective Echo cancellation algorithms.

  • Thank you.  Does TI offer an audio codec part which performs

echo cancellation?  Also, regarding WinCE 5.0 drivers, there seems to be a SW package from
TI that includes WinCE 5.0 Driver support (Application Report SBAA153-April 2007).  I have tried to attach
the word document describing this the title is "TLV320AIC33 WinCE 5.0 Driver for Samsung S3C244x Processors", could
I obtain this package from TI?
  • Hi, Manuel,

Unfortunately, the miniDSP of our codecs is not suitable to perform effective echo cancellation algorithms, so in order to use them in this type of applications, an external DSP is required.

Regarding the document you mention, It was developed a long time ago, and the people around that development is no longer in TI, but we will check if the driver is available.

  • Diego,
What about the TLV320AIC3262, this part seems to have more DSP processing capabilities (dual miniDSP cores). Would this part be more conducive to support echo cancellation. Do you have any experience/suggestions as to how this part handles echo cancellation?
    Thank You,
    Manuel Mallas
  • Manuel,

Echo cancellation is not supported on any TI codecs at this time.
