TAS5630: Power supplies for TIs Class D ICs

Part Number: TAS5630
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3255,

Hello,

I'd like to test some class D amp ICs of TI, basically TAS5630 and TPA3255. But I'm a little confused because of the strange power supply requirements. A 51V single ended supply and 12V supply is required. And a "Class G Purepath Power supply reference design" mentioned, which still seems to be available since at least 8 years:

As I have currently no capacities for designing a new low-noise SMPS power supply, I would love to buy one, which is suitable for audio purposes. But the available ones on the market  are dual power supplies and if I'd use the one half, I'd have only the half of power rating, which would be expensive and non-sense.

So, which power supplies are those ICs are meant to be used with? Only the specific develepments? Are there any reference designs which can fit the 600W mono configuration? (400W-500W would be ok, too)

Thanks and best regards

  • Can,

The design you are referring to is not an end product that can be purchased. That being said, the design document is available and I have shared it here recently:

For our EVMs used in demos we usually use something like the Meanwell HEP Series supplies:

They are low noise, high power, voltage adjustable, and they are very robust.

Our 12V or similar Gate Drive voltage is usually generated on board via LDO since it's low current.
