PCM2904: Enabling the HID function

Part Number: PCM2904
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2906C, HID2

Hi Team,

How do I enable the HID function of the PCM2904?

I guess I need to enable the HID end-point since the control end-point is the default setting.

But I don't see the way to change it in the datasheet. Please help!

Thanks!

Roy Hsu

  • Hi, Roy,

I think the HID controls are actually enabled as soon as the HID interrupt is triggered. I will look for more information about this and will get back to you.

  • Hi Diego,

Would you be able to test this function on the EVM?

My customer told me that nothing seemed to have changed when they controlled the HID inputs.

    Thanks!

  • Hi, Roy,

The PCM2904 actually has the same behavior and performance as the PCM2906C, so I tried with the PCM2906C EVM. In the EVM, once triggering the HID inputs, I am able to see the respective actions in the computer. HID0 triggers a mute command, HID1 increases volume and HID2 decreases volume.

Please note that the PCM2904 has some issues highlighted on the  PCM290x errata, available in the product folder of the device in ti.com. The HID interface is not listed so you should not have any issues with the HID function and PCM2904.
