TAS5755M: DRC Offset1 Parameter

Hi,

Could you please tell me the adjustable minimum and maximum values for the DRC offset1 parameter ?
It seems that the offset gain increases if setting 0dB ~ 12dB to DRC offset1 but the offset gain decreases if setting >12dB ~ 24dB to DRC offset1.

You are right that the max offset is 12dB and I also replicated this on the EVM. In addition, we have a document that introduces DRC block: www.ti.com/.../sloa148.pdf Hope it helps your understanding.

Could you please tell me the reasons "why the maximum value for the DRC offset1 is 12dB" and "how TAS5755M works if setting more than 12dB to DRC offset1 register" ?

Hi Kato-san,
This is a design limitation, because this is not a normal usage - the offset is not recommended to be so large value. From your above picture, you could see that the output level is already larger than 0dB level with 0dB input, which means that the output signal is already clipped and the DRC is not really working to protect the output linearity. If you want to boost the output signal, please use master volume instead of DRC offset.
