PCM2903: Decode the Audio data

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2903, PCM2903C

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

Is possible to decode the Audio data (from S/PDIF) which be protected, then to output the audio original data to HOST (USB)?

  • Hi Sirs,
Because we meet some issue so we need confirm this.
It's a urgent case so need you help.
If have any question please kindly let us know.
  • Hi, Shu-Cheng,

It is not possible to bypass the copyright protection of SCMS.  Please note the PCM2903 does have some known issues, as highlighted in the errata available in the product folder in, so it is recommended to use the PCM2903C instead.

We updated the datasheet for this device and deleted the note you are highlighting; please refer to the latest PCM2903C datasheet.

SCMS ensures digital copyright protection.  This part will not allow the transfer of first generation or higher copyrighted data to the host; so if the copyright bit is present and data is indicated as first-generation or higher, the digital input data will not be routed to the host, and the analog signal from the ADCs will be selected as the input source.
