TLV320DAC23: Separate ADC/DAC

Part Number: TLV320DAC23
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3203

I am looking into some of the ADC/DAC/CODEC texas provides. We would like to separate the ADC/DAC (not use CODEC) to be able to fit the DAC clk better to the output audio signal. Here we had a look at TLV320DAC which I can see have nice controllable clk. I have a few question about I tough:

-        Can the register changing the clk be changed after booting up the device?

-        Is the instructions for the control interface compatible with TLV320AIC?

  • Hi, Carlos,

Please take a look at my responses below and let me know if you have more questions or comments.

    -        Can the register changing the clk be changed after booting up the device?

The TLV320DAC23, like the most part of our Audio Converters, are configured after all power supplies are enabled and stable. Once the digital and interface power pins are powered (in this case, DVDD and BVDD), the registers can be configured.

    -        Is the instructions for the control interface compatible with TLV320AIC?

All our Audio Converters supports I2C interface and in some cases they are also compatibles with SPI interface. Each audio converter has a particular I2C address (in some devices, the I2C address can be modified with digital pins). So, they can easily share the programming lines.

Does this audio DAC supports all the features that you are looking for? We also recommend to take a look at our TLV320DAC3203. It is one of our best DACs and there's a lot of information about it in our TI web site.

    Best regards,
