LM48411: Current Limit

Hi team,

I'm an FAE supporting some industrial customers in Japan.

My customer considers employing LM48411 and provided a question.

Question

Does LM48411 have current limit?

If yes, could you provide its threshold?

Background of question

In the past, the customer employed TLV320DAC3100IRHBR and it has current limit which is NOT described in datasheet.

Thus the customer need to check if LM48411 also has current limit or not.

Hi Shota,

LM48411 features Output Short Circuit Protection. So this is not actually a current limit, it will just protect the device when there is a short at the outputs.
You should also consider that the minimum load impedance supported is 2ohms: e2e.ti.com/.../722590
And also please take into account that support on most LM devices is hard as evaluation boards are usually not available, you should consider promoting other devices from TPA20xx family: e2e.ti.com/.../976946
At this moment I don't have an evaluation board so I couldn't test LM48411 short circuit protection to provide an estimated current threshold.

Hi Ivan-san

Let me ask you another simple question.
Although output power is specified at THD=10% on the datasheet, short-circuit doesn’t work if this output power is below these specified value.
Is this my understanding correct?
