Hi expert,

 

I am checking with TPA6138A2 datasheet and not able to find a thermal protection function.

 

If the device runs a continuous full power output, like 3.3VDD, 16ohm, 10%THD, is there any concern regarding the reliability? It may get thermally damaged?

    Hi Kawasaki-san,

    The device operation should be within data sheet spec values, the Recommended Operation Conditions table gives a max ambient temp value of 85degC.
    At high temperatures, the output of the device is reduced (it is not disabled), so distortion due to clipping increases at higher temperatures.
