Hi all, Drv 134 is giving gain more than 6 dB .It is nearly 6.7 dB what may be the reasons for my problem?

Hi Naveen,

The DRV134 has on-chip laser-trimmed resistors for gain accuracy. Can you share your schematic (TINA-TI SPICE) with me?

Hai,

Please find the attached TINA circuit. DRV134 is giving a gain of 6.75dB instead of 6dB. In practical testing also same is repeating.

Hi Venkat,

Thank you for sharing your schematic. The electrical characteristic table in the datasheet shows the typical gain value to be 6dB but remember this is for the conditions stated at the top of the table. Make sure you add the R_load = 600Ω:

Hai,

Is it compulsory to add the load resistor for any other reason other than gain. In my design resistor is not there.

Hi Venkat,

No, it's not compulsory, but if you want the performance as outlined in the electrical characteristics table of the datasheet, the test conditions (including the load resistor) is required.

The 600Ω resistor models the load presented to the DRV134.

Your circuit does have a load, whether you know it or not. The DRV134 does connect to a receiver somewhere, correct? That receiver has an input impedance.

So don't include that resistor in your design, just be aware that there is a load at the receiver.
