TPA3130D2: Doesn't work when is Faultz High

Hi

I designed a PCB with the TPA3130 but is doesn't work.

I connected 12V measured the voltage on the FAULTZ pin (which is High 10,6V) but the speakers stay quit. When I measure the SYNC pin I receive a clock puls. So I presume the amplifier is working. But I don't receive any audio on the output.

Does anybody has an idea?

hello,

Andy will review your schematic. by the way, did you check GVDD have output or not? did you check difference of schematic between yours and datasheet page26 reference datasheet?

Hi

I have a voltage of 7V on GVDD. I got this schematic from a college and he normally based it on the schemtatic in the datasheet.

The thing is, all de output als GND level while the FAULTS if High. I'we read the datasheet twice know but don't see why.

Hi Nick,

Here are my suggestions.

a) Probe the output pins (e.g. OUTPR or OUTNR) and check whether you can see any PWM waveform.

b) Measure the MUTE pin and check whether it is HIGH.

Before I posted this question I already probed the complete PCB. My mute pin is connected to ground and there is nothing to see on the outputs.

Do you have any idea how big the pwm signal would be?

Hi Nick,

You should see some PWM waveforms like the ones below. Its switching frequency is 400kHz and duty cycle is about 15% in the idle state.

Hi Andy

No, there was no PWM signal at the outputs. I had the feeling the outputs where disabled in some way. But again the Faults pin was high.

Did you see something wrong with my schematic?

Hi Nick,

Your schematic seems ok to me.

I would suggest you

a) measure the GVDD voltage and it should be around 6.9V.

b) remove the LC filter (10uH + 3.3uF) and check again if you can see the PWM.

c) try another TPA3130 device.
