TPA3251EVM: Outout Inductors and the TPA3251EVM

Part Number: TPA3251EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3251

While I work at TI I do not work in the Audio Amp group and my post here is to pose few questions.  My comments are NOT TI recommendations and I’m not a TI expert on these amps.

I’m just curious why the TPA3251EVM uses Coilcraft inductors when the Wurth inductors seem to yield much better THD numbers especially given he fact that class D amplification has historically been seen as inferior in terms of THD as compared to class AB designs?

The TI document SLAA701seems to indicate the Wurth inductors cause higher power loss but does the TPA3251 device with a heat sink have issues with this higher power dissipation?

Several companies are really trying to push class D designs to be very competitive with class AB so I’m somewhat surprised TI does not have a reference design that pushes THD numbers as low as possible.
