PCM1774: Layout questions to PCM1774

Part Number: PCM1774

Hi :)

My customer wants to use PCM1774 an they do have some questions, maybe you can help.

They would not use AIN1L and AIN1R.

1: What is the recommendation for this two inputs ?

2: is there a recommendation for Ground connections ?

3:  Can we connect Analog ground to Digital ground ?

4: The package PCM1774 has a thermal PAD, is it internally connected to Analog ground or Digital ground ?

5: is there another App note or datasheet for other audio DAC components, that describes layout support?

Thank you kind regards,

Marion

  • Hi Marion,

    1. These two inputs can be connected to ground.  They should be disabled in the register map as well.

    2. A single, unified ground is acceptable for this device, though I recommend that digital connections be routed away from the analog outputs.

    3. You can connect the DGND and AGND together, though digital signals should be routed away from the analog outputs.

    4. The thermal pad is connected to analog ground.

    5. While the EVM is no longer available, the user-guide does show an example layout and component selection:http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau131/sbau131.pdf

    Thanks,
