TLV320AIC3254: Echo cancellation without DSP for video doorbell

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3262

Hi All,

My customer is designing a video doorbell with echo cancellation.

I proposed the TIDA – 01589 and by analyzing the DSP proposed for echo cancellation, we have seen that this must be programmed and managed to use a suitable library. We need an integrated solution, with a dedicated chip that performs DSP functions like Audio codec with echo cancellation options.

Since we already have a microprocessor on board our product, going to manage even a DSP would be too expensive.

Do you have comments here to help customer address the echo cancellation?

Customer shown interest at TLV320AIC3254 and would like to talk to an expert to see how to realize an echo cancellation unit based on this audio codec.

Customer’s "limit" is that they already have the application developed on a CORTEX-M7 and they would not like to re-develop it or rework it too much to integrate it on an MPU + DSP.

Hence they are looking for an almost "ready to use" solution where possible.

Could you please suggest customer any ways to follow? Please write me also in private if needed.

Many Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

TLV320AIC3254 would be a very basic solution since it supports only 12 ms tail length at 8 kHz. TLV320AIC3262 is more flexible in terms of MIPS and memory and can support longer tail lengths (128 ms at 8 kHz) and higher sample rates (16 kHz).  Could you let us know the operating sampling rate,  echo tail length and other processing block required (like DRC, EQ, Filters, etc.) to be run on the codec? Based on that we can make the appropriate recommendation.

    Best Regards.
