TAS5755M: Design overview thoughts

Part Number: TAS5755M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5141, DRV612, PCM5121, DRV604

I have a design based on TAS5755M Amp in a 2.0 BTL 50+50W configuration.

The client would like to add line-out to this device now too.
Should I just multiplex the I2S Signals going to the amp into a DAC?

How would you do it?

Doing so would mean that the EQ controls have no effect on the LINE OUT, only on the speaker outputs.

Or should I somehow try to tap the speaker outputs and derive line out from them?

  • Hello Kenny,

We would not recommend tapping the speaker output and deriving line out from them.

TI has Audio DACs that can do audio processing such as EQ (the PCM5121 or PCM5141 for example) which you could use in parallel with either a line driver IC (DRV604 or DRV612) or another circuit. You would do the EQ separately on the devices and could tune them to match by measuring the frequency response and also listening. If you match the tuning on each Biquad for both devices the response will probably be very similar but you might need some additional tuning.

    Best Regards,

    Luis

  • Thansk Luis!

I never really liked the idea of tapping the speaker outputs!
