PCM1808: PCM1808 instead of AK5381

Part Number: PCM1808
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320ADC3101, TLV320ADC3140

We use the audio ADC to solve the waveforms with phase difference between two channels, and get the phase difference data. It needs input R and input L to have good synchronization, which requires that the synchronization can reach within 0.3us ~ 0.5us lag. The ak5381 we used before, we tested the pcm1808 and found that the effect is not as we predicted. Please help us to recommend the function structure similar to ak5381, and the synchronization performance of the input two channels reaches me. The chips that we asked for.

  • Zhang ping,

While the PCM1808 does not specify inter channel phase mismatch, But I would not have expected this. Can you tell me more about your tests?

The TLV320ADC3101 has the ability to lock and calibrate the phase.  but the performance is lower than the PCM1808.

The new TLV320ADC3140 has very solid inter channel phase mismatch, plus the ability to calibrate each channel. This is a 4 channel device,  but the device does feature a channel summing mode where the channels can be paired and (Ch1+Ch2)/2 = channel 1 output  and (ch3 + ch4)/2 = channel 2 output effectively improving the SNR by 3dB.
