DSD1796: DSD1796

Part Number: DSD1796

Hi. I have dac with DSD1796 can is it possible to replace it with DSD1794? And whether it would be an improvement?

  • Hi Branislav,

The two devices are nearly pin-for-pin, except that the DSD1794 is I2C controlled and the 1796 is SPI controlled.  You will need to change the protocol you are using if you are writing to the device.

The current output of the 1794 is larger (7.8mApp vs 4mApp) so your I/V stage will need to be adjusted to prevent output clipping.  Primarily this will be the resistors in the trans-impedance stage.

The DSD1794 is a higher performing device (SNR, THD), so you would benefit from that.

    Thanks,

    Paul
