TPA6139A2: ok for new designs?

Part Number: TPA6139A2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA6132A2,

I have been happy with electrical performance of the TPA6132A2, but it is the only QFN in my design and QFN soldering problems have been my most common cause of board failures.  I wanted to switch to TSSOP TPA1639A2, but  "Recommended alternative parts" are prominently displayed in its description.  Does this indicate I should not be creating new designs with the TPA1639A2?

From http://www.ti.com/product/TPA6139A2:

Recommended alternative parts

  • TPA6132A2  -  25-mW DirectPath™ Stereo Headphone Amplifier with Pop Suppression
  • TPA6130A2  -  138-mW DirectPath™ Stereo Headphone Amplifier with I2C Volume Control

  • Hi Lippold,

You can design TPA6139A2 without any problems.
We provide alternative parts in our devices product folder so that customers can explore different similar options when looking for a device for their application. It does not mean we don't recommend to use that specific device.

Please go ahead, evaluate and design TPA6139A2 in your design. If you ever have questions or issues post a new thread on this forum so we can support you.

    Best regards,
