PCM5102EVM-U: Tool of input data generation

You can control the PCM5102EVM using one of two pieces of software. 

1. Codec Control: http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slac493 - this is the original GUI for the EVM. 
2. PurePath Console 1.16 - http://www.ti.com/tool/PUREPATHCONSOLE?keyMatch=PUREPATH%20CONSOLE%203&tisearch=Search-EN-everything  - You would use the PCM5142 environment for this.

You or your customer will need to request access to the PurePath Console software.

Hi Katsu-san,

The EVM software cannot generate the audio signal itself.  It only configures the EVM to be an audio playback device.  You must then play audio on your PC to create the output signal.

In PPC 1.16, select the USB input and configure the jumpers as shown.  Now, you can select the TI USB Audio source on your Windows PC sound configuration options (click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your Windows taskbar).  Now the  EVM is configured to be a USB audio playback source.  You can now play any audio on your PC (Media Player, VLC, youtube, etc.).  I use a tone generator website as a quick source. https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/

Hi Katsu,

You will need to run a script to configure the EVM to use the USB input.  Sorry I forgot that this was necessary.  This can be done using codecControl or PPC, but I will show you how to do it with PPC.

1. Launch PPC, choose the PCM5142 as a target, configure the jumpers and switches for USB input as shown on the GUI.

2.Select the "Direct I2C Access" tab.  Press the "load" button, and select this .cfg file.  Then select "Execute". 8255.PCM5102 Connect to USB.cfg

The EVM is now configured for USB input.  

In regards to the TAS1020 controller, I am not an expert with that device.  Will your customer be okay with just using the script as I have shown?
