LM4871: Power dissipation

Part Number: LM4871

Hi

If LM4871M device is connected to audio transformer, can I still use formula 2 from datasheet, page 10 to calculate power dissipation?

What transformer value I need to use for RL (Impedance or DC resistance)?

Best Regards

Alex

  • Hi, Alexander,

Yes, this formula also works when the load is a transformer.

Regarding your question about the transformer value that you need for the formula, I will recommend to take the impedance value. it actually depends of what you need for your calculations. If you take the impedance value, you will get the apparent power, considering the power losses. The DC resistance will give you only the real power.

Please let me know if you have additional question or comments on this. We will be glad to help you.
