TLV320AIC3106: TLV320AIC33IZQER differences

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106

Hi,

We have used the TLV320aic33IZQER codec for previous projects and are beginning a new project that requires a codec. I saw that Ti.com recommends the TLV320AIC3106 instead of the AIC33. Could you explain why it is not recommended to use the AIC33? What are their similarities/differences?

Are they pin to pin? Similar interface? Register compatible? Thanks!

Best,

Adam

  • Hello Adam,

The AIC3106 is a new generation of AIC33. They are pin to pin compatible and while the registers are not all compatible, most of them are. Some of they main differences that the AIC3106 has are listed below.

    - 102dBA SNR vs 100dBA for AIC33

    - Signal Processing and Noise filtering during record

    - Record only mode.

While TI recommends the AIC3106 as an alternative,  the AIC33 is not NRND. It is still very much active and fully supported. :)

    Regards,

    Aaron
