TAS5630B: TAS5630B and TPA3221 differences in term of sound tuning performance.

Part Number: TAS5630B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3221

Hi,

Good day,

I have been study  TAS5630B and TPA3221 Audio Amp differences  for my recent project.

I find out that TAS5630B has much higher price compared to TPA3221.

In term of Audio performance there is slightly difference in term of THDN, SNR etc.

But may in term of Acoustics Sound tuning. Is there any performance difference between these ICs?

Does PurePath Technology gives better Sound performance?

Thank you.

BR,

Hassani

  • Hi Hassani,

Higher cost of TAS5630B partially comes from its much higher output power capability than TPA3221.

They are both analog input device. Most of the acoustics sound tuning effort should be done in audio DSP before the DAC in your system. For the audio amplifier itself, actually you only need to focus on the THD+N performance from the tuning perspective. In other words, for a standalone audio amp, any better sound performance should be reflected by the THD+N, noise, cross talk, frequency response, etc... which can be referred to on the datasheet.

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Hi Hao,

    Thank you for your explanation.
