TAS5634EVM: TAS5634EVM, softawe

Part Number: TAS5634EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5558, TAS5634, TAS5805, TPA3255, TAS5548

Hi,

I have a several questions about TAS5634EVM.

1) I want audio input with USB cable. Is it possible without recomended software?

2) When I have done 1), load some music from youtube, PWM output from TAS5558 is 50% - no sound on output TAS5634.

Jumpers and other settings is for PBTL. What I do wrong?

Thank you

Vojta

  • Hi Vojta,

Audio input via USB is supported on EVM. Could you check your audio output option on your PC? Could you take a picture on your board? I'd like to check the jumper position and output connection. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

I resolved this issue with PurePath Console 1. When I run program, suddenly EVM works. I was a liitle bit suprised that it just need open program without any setting in it. Maybe due to I2C?!

I have one question for you. Have you (TI) some simple IC for audio PWM than TAS5558DCAR? I mean some IC with audio analog input and PWM output?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,

    Vojta

  • Hi Vojta,

We have a lot of audio amp options. What's the output power requirement?

For mid power analog-in devices, we have TPA311x/312x/313x series; for digital input devices, we have TAS5805 and TAS5825, and a lot of TAS57xx devices.

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

I will use TAS5634 because requirement is D class amp, 300 W, 6 Ohm, PBTL. PWM could be generated from mic MK24, but I am thinking about replacing MK24 with some simplified, use friendly IC...

    Regards,

    Vojta

  • Hi Vojta,

Well, for 300W@6R, the only choice is TAS5634 in our portfolio... The highest power analog input device is TPA3255, which can support 51.5V PVDD max. It can only support 315W@4R loading, not enough for 6R loading.

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

I have another question for you. What duty cycle range (tolerance) PWM should be generated for D - amplifier from TAS5558DCAR? As I wrote above, I want try to generate PWM from microcontroller as another option. What issue I should avoid of.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Vojta

  • Hi Vojta,

What you are talking about is actually a parameter called modulation index. Theoretically, this number could be 100%.

In common applications, power stage like TAS5634 are used together with auido processor TAS55x8. On TAS5548 datasheet, (refer to page 65), you can get a few modulation index options. I would recommend you to select one of the limits there.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam
