TPA301: Audio singled ended input from 1.5V to -1.5V

Part Number: TPA301

Hi Audio Team,

My name is Jaehoon and I am currently working on designing HearingAid circuit.

In my design, input to audio amp(TPA301) has +1.5/-1.5V swing and it is connected to IN- of TPA301.

However, I noticed that TPA301 has a only VDD/GND and not eligible for Vs- supply.

Right now, Vdd=3.3V to TPA301.

What will be the output swing of TPA301, when IN- is a sinusoidal (1.5V ~ -1.5V) and IN+ = GND? All the negative swings(0~ - 1.5V) will be ignored?

Regards,

Jaehoon

  • Hi, Jaehoon,

This would depend of the VDD level that you are using. This device requires an input capacitor to allow the amplifier to bias the input signal to the proper DC level. This DC level is VDD / 2 typically. So, if your input has a +1.5V / -1.5V swing, using a VDD with at least 3V should be enough. However, I would recommend to use a 3.3V supply minimum to ensure that the device will handle the +/- 1.5V swing, just in case there are looses in the power supply circuitry.

I hope this is clear. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.
