TLV320AIC3110: PLL Power Consumption

Part Number: TLV320AIC3110

It is mentioned in section 7.3.11.1 of the datasheet, that lower power can be achieved by deriving clocks from simple dividers, and NOT using the PLL.  I can't find anywhere, how much power that would be expected to save (i.e.  what is the consumption of the PLL).   In another post, App-Note SLAA468B is referenced, and section 2.4 seems to show 3 different Mono Record use cases, where power is measured with and without the PLL.  The difference appears to be just under 6mW.  Can one infer that the PLL adds 6mW of power to whatever use-case you may have, or is it more complex of an answer?  Is there any information on PLL Power Consumption we can offer?

  • Hello Eric,

I am not exactly sure the details behind these tests and whether or not the PLL power consumption is expected to be ~6mW regardless of the configuration. I would like to get more information from the design team and get back to you with some better information.

    Regards,
    Aaron
