OPA1632: Using Enable Pin to Mute

Part Number: OPA1632

Hi,

I am building a single ended input to balanced output buffer, and would like to use the Enable pin of the OPA1632 to mute the output signals at power-up/power-down to avoid clocks and pops.  The datasheet is cloudy about the EN pin operation.  Does anyone have any experience and/or reasonable explanation on what to expect at the outputs of the chip in a disabled mode?

I have built a breadboard with G=+/-1 (balanced buffer) with OPA1632 powered with +/-15V (bipolar), and tested the EN pin function. The input signal was a 1kHz triangle spanning from -2V to +2V.  In the enabled state (Pin 7 floating), the outputs provide expected Vout+ = Vin, and Vout-=-Vin signals.  When the EN pin is tied to -15V, the Vout+ outputs a heavily distorted version of the Vin, while Vout- outputs something like a doubled Vin without inversion.

What am I doing wrong?  How to properly use the EN pin for muting?

Thank you,
