PCM1681: I2C bus connection and clock speed

Part Number: PCM1681

Hello expert,

I have question regarding I2C communication regarding PCM1681.
This device support up to 100kHz I2C commutation but this device connect to I2C bus which is connected other device that used 333kHz I2C.
My understanding of PCM1681 is that just notifying NACK(maintain SDA as high) and there is any problem if inputted 333kHz I2C signal to PCM1681.
I'd like to confirm whether above understanding is correct just in case.

Would you check above my understanding?

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

I do not think this will be a problem with the PCM1681.  It should just ignore all I2C commands if the address is incorrect.  You will need to slow the SCL to 100kHz or lower when trying to communicate with the PCM1681.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul-san,

    I appreciate your swift reply.

We don't think to use this device with 100kHz or higher communication speed. We just want to know about whether causing problem with higher I2C signal to  other device.
I understood it will ignore and there isn't any problem.
