Hi,

I have some EQ in TAS5731M which has positive gain (10dB) at a particular frequency.

What the maximum gain a 0dB input signal can have (without digital clipping) before entering DRC?

Hi,

TAS5731 is quite an old device... We need some time to check the database...

We have latest generation of TAS5805 and TAS5825 devices with much higher performance and significant lower price, which has +24dB DSP headroom. Would you like to consider these devices?

We were using TAS5805M in other projects.

End customer selected TAS5731M for this project.

Hello CK,

If you exceed 0dB before entering DRC you will see digital clipping.

What is the register we can increase analog gain?

Can we use register 0x56 and 0x57? What are the gain range for these two registers?

Hello Ck,

0x56 and 0x57 are part of the THD manager. The THD manager is used to induce digital clipping of the output signal at a lower level than would usually occur because of voltage clipping.

Pre-scaler (0x57) adjusts the amount of clipping.
Post-Scaler (0x56) adjusts the power level at which this occurs.

There is not a register that can modify analog gain for this device.

Yes, we have tried on 0x56 and 0x57.

Hello CK,

The internal gain range is 24dB for the different blocks, but if input signal + gain from the other processing blocks is over 0dBFS you will see digital clipping.
