Hello team,

Could you please help us to interpret the PCM1870A datasheet?

1. I'd like to learn more about ALC functionality. Does ALC actually control PG1/2 or PG3/4 automatically? Or is this anything else separated from the PG?

If ALC controls PG, maximum gain should be estimated as +50dB (PG1/2 : +20dB+PG3/4: +30dB)

If ALC is independent, maximum gain should be estimated as +74dB(PG1/2:+20dB + PG3/4: +30dB + ALC:+24dB)

2. I found PG5 and PG6 at p.28 on the D/S. Is this typo? Could you please elaborate on this?

    Hello,

    While the the PCM1870 is still an active and supported product I wonder if the customer would be better off with a slightly newer device such as the TLV320ADC3140 or the PCM1862?

    Hello Collin-san,

    Actually, we've already recommended newer parts but the customer somehow prefers PCM1870 as it meets their use case better. I'll ask the customer about why they prefer PCM1870.

    In the meantime, can you please address the D/S questions?

    I found the answer for questions #1 and #2 from the other thread.

    Please allow me to add a question from customer.

    3. When the ALC is active, what is the maximum gain of PG3/4? 24dB or 30dB?

    4. I and customer found PCM1862 could be candidate and PCM1862EVM is available. Is it possible to evaluate some of PCM1870A control interface function with PCM1862? Does PCM1862 have some common interface feature with PCM1870A?
