Hi,

I am looking to connect the PCM1690 to 4 headphone amplifiers and have selected out the TPA6130A2. However I am concerned that the output voltage of the PCM1690 is too high for the TPA6130A2. Can you confirm whether I need any external circuitry apart from DC blocking capacitors?

    Hi, Thomas,

    Your comment about the input level limitation is correct, the TPA6130A2 could have the risk of damage by the PCM1690-Q1 output level. The output level can reach the absolute maximum voltage of the TPA6130A2. 

    So, you would need to have additional pre amplifier stage or select a different DAC device with a lower line level.
