PCM5102A-Q1: can the IC work normally without power but input I2S clock ? and transition time to be standby

Part Number: PCM5102A-Q1

Hi team,

This device start to work when VDD is above than 2.8V as described on page 32 of the datasheet.
Can I2S clock input before power on reset?

Another question is the datasheet describe PCM510xA automatically enters standby mode at page 33.
How long does it take to be standby mode after an error is detected?
Customer need to switch sampling rate during power on (standby), so they need the switching time.
I guess the delay time, 20ts and 3.5ts, indicate the time that customer want to know.

Best regards,
Koyo

  • Hi Koyo-san,

The I2S input pins are designed to allow the pins to be biased before the device is powered.  This is not an issue.

After an clock error is detected, the device will ramp the output at 1-dB gain steps per sample.  The device has an internal oscillator that will dictate the sample time during a clock error event, but it should approximately match the sample rate that device was already using. This should take 104 samples.

    Thanks,

    Paul
