MC33078: Does MC33078 have any diode between IN+ and IN- terminals?

 Hello guys,

 One of my customers has the following questions about MC33078.

 Could you please give me your reply for these questions?

 Q1. Does MC33078 have any diode between  IN+ and IN- terminals?

 Q2. If a voltage more than 0.6V is applied to IN- terminal without any current limiting resister when IN+ terminal is connected to GND,

        is there any possibility to damage the device?

 Q3. Is IN+, IN- terminal allowable voltage range the follow?

       -0.6V < (IN+) - (IN-) <+0.6V

    Below please see my answers:

    Q1. Does MC33078 have any diode between  IN+ and IN- terminals?  

    Yes, there are back-to-back input protection diodes between the MC33078 input terminals - see note (4) below:

     

    Q2. If a voltage more than 0.6V is applied to IN- terminal without any current limiting resister when IN+ terminal is connected to GND,

            is there any possibility to damage the device?

    Yes, under such condition one may damage the device unless the current is limited through another means to 10mA or less - see above.

     Q3. Is IN+, IN- terminal allowable voltage range the follow?

           -0.6V < (IN+) - (IN-) <+0.6V

    This is only allowable with a series input resistor to limit the input current to 10mA or less - see Absolute Maximum Rating table above.
