TPA3112D1: IC broke with no load issue

Hi Team,

Issue: the IC will be heated and broke fast with power on. Please find the schematic in the below.

Questions:

-Could you please help review the schematic and give any suggestion to improve?

-I assume that the issue may relate to PVCC slew rate, as I find the datasheet recommend to control the PVCC within 10V/ms. And AVCC is sensitive to this change, but I have added the 100Kohm resistor R181 at AVCC pin. Could you give some guide on this point?

Hi Tess,

I found the main problem is ground.

Please do not separate AMD ground! It has big risk for thermal and EMI! Just one completely ground is fine.

Second, if you add inductor on outputs, the beads can be removed.

And please check Fault pin if any fault happened.

Thanks for your feedback.What does AMD ground refers to here? You mean VOC_GND, GND and GND_24V?

Other question: does the ground layout may also cause the thermal issue? And what need to be care about from layout aspect?

Hi Tess,

The VOC_GND, GND and GND_24V should be one completely ground!

Separate ground may lead to thermal issue.
