PCM4220: Can user disconnect Vcc2 to reduce power consumption?

Part Number: PCM4220

Hi team,

Our customer uses only 1 channel (For example, VINR+, VINR-) and want to reduce power consumption. Can they disconnect Vcc2 to reduce it?

If no, please teach me why the two analog supply pins are required.

Regards,

Hideki

  • Hello,

The analog power-supplies should all be applied to the PCM4220 for proper operation. The device is physically larger to meet the strong performance metrics and having multiple entry points for VCC and GND lowered the effective inductance and provided improved performance for the internal layout configuration.

There are likely unexpected consequences if only one VCC is applied as this is not how the device was intended for use and tested.
