PCM2903C: Windows driver for COax application

Hi guys,

I have another question regarding a coax approach with this device:

The standard Microsoft Windows Audio driver only offers Line In and Line Out. However, the design uses Line Out and S/PDIF in/out.

How do we get the USB device configured under Windows or do we need a design-specific audio driver ?

You can test this using the PCM2903EVM: https://www.ti.com/tool/PCM2903EVM-U

I'm not a Windows driver expert but from what I understand from the Windows driver side the device looks like a standard line-in/line-out device. The PCM2903C is what converts the incoming S/PDIF input to slot into the "line-in" packet and will convert the "line-out" data into the required S/PDIF outputs. Therefore to Windows it looks like a standard line-in/out device.

Hello,

The device enumerates as a standard UAC 1.0 Audio Class device, no driver is needed, it's built into Windows. Recommend the customer gets the EVM for a better understanding of how the device works to convert the USB Audio commands to/from Audio line and S/PDIF.
