TS3A226AE: How to detect the headset was plugged in?

Part Number: TS3A226AE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A227E

Hi Team,

i have a question related to the working mechanism on detecting the headset plug in.

when customer used the headset for audio play, they need to shut down the mic on their computer.

For this TS3A226AE, do we have any pin that could show whether the headset was plugged in?

if not, could you get us some insights on how to monitor the TS3A226AE work states for mother board to control?

BR

Brandon.

  • Hi Brandon,

The TS3A226AE does not have a pin that shows if the headset was plugged in.

This switch does everything automatically - i.e. no software control.  The switch will route the signals from the jack based on the impedances that it senses. It will sense 4 different modes:

If the IC detects either a TRRS 4 Pole Headphone and depending on the jack setup it will route the switches automatically. To know if the mic signal is connected  use the 3rd or  4th table entry. For example if the Sleeve is grounded Ring2 pin will not be ground as it will be connected to the microphone, and if Sleeve will be shorted to GNDA.

If more software control is wanted the TS3A227E is recommended - as this part also has an Open drain Mic connected output pin. This will also give more accuracy to the detection states.

If you have any other questions please let me know!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
