TLV320DAC3101: design question

Part Number: TLV320DAC3101

Hi sir,

Could you help to check below questions?

While the power of the terminal is ON but no output/input through speaker/mic, power to the speaker amplifier (TLV320DAC3101) continues to be supplied. In this case, is the speaker amplifier in idle mode? what is the power consumption?

Is power not being supplied to the speaker parts?

What is required time in #1 to #2 in below.

1. Turn on the power of the speaker amplifier (Set GPIO111 to High)

2. Reset release of speaker amplifier (Set GPIO104 to High from Low)

Thank you.

  • Hi,

For details about the power consumption during the idle/power down mode, I would recommend to take a look at this app note:

    https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa468b/slaa468b.pdf?ts=1612277583007

If the Class-D driver is powered down, there shouldn't be a considerable current consumption on SPKVDD (or it should be supplied in some nA, if any). The rest of the blocks have a idle current consumption as mentioned in the document above.

The speaker amplifier power on time actually depends of the wait time of page 1 / register 0x22 (34). In case it is configured as 0ms, you should just wait for the rise time, which should be around 0.1us. For the power down time, it takes a similar time.

    Best regards,
