LME49600: Can I use LME49600 as a buffer prior to a summing amplifier?

Hi,

I am using INA217 as the pre-amplifier followed by an attenuator that works as the volume control. I'd like to use a buffer after the attenuator and right before a summing amplifier (I also would use INA217 as the summing amplifier). Given LME49600 will not feed the speaker, should I still use LME49600 as the buffer in the design? I was wondering if the high output current rating of LME49600 makes it to be only a good candidate to driver speakers and not necessary to be a buffer before a summing amplifier.

If not, Do you recommend other low-noise high-fidelity op-amp that can work well as a buffer in this design?

Just to confirm, do yo need a speaker amplifier or a high-fidelity op-amp as buffer? The LME49600 is a good option to work as a buffer, but we don't recommend it to handle speaker loads. I would recommend a speaker amplifier in case you are looking to handle speaker loads:

Hi Luis,

Thank you for your quick response. LME49600 will be used as a buffer to a summing amplifier and will not load a speaker (or headphone in my case). Here is the simplified signal path:

INA217 (pre-amplifier) >> Buffer (LME49600?) >> INA 217 (as the summing amplifier) >> LM4881 (headphone amplifier) >> Headphone

Would you recommend using LME49600 as the buffer here?

Thank you for your explanation. This is correct, the LME49600 will be a good choice as a buffer since it won't handle any speaker load directly at its outputs.
