TAS5825PEVM: some related questions

Part Number: TAS5825PEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5825P, PCM9211,

Hi team,

What I wound like to ask is

1\ What functions can TAS5825P software + PPC3 + EVM + PPCMB realize

2\ What functions can TAS5825P software + PPC3 + EVM realize (without PPCMB )

3\ What functions can tas5825p software + ppc3 realize  (without EVM + PPCMB )

4\ What is the function of XE216-512 in TAS5825P EVM? If it only realizes the functions of USB to I2S and controlling TAS5825 through I2C, can it be replaced by the customer's USB to I2C module (audio input from 3.5 mm analog Jack pcm9211)?

TAS5825P Evaluation Module User's Guide

  • Hi Amy,

TAS5825p consists of dsp + amplifier. DSP is mainly for class H algorithm implementation.

    As to your questions;

    1\ What functions can TAS5825P software + PPC3 + EVM + PPCMB realize

Ans: TAS5825P does not need PPCMB as it is XMOS based. PPC3 is the software integrated with class H algorithm. The whole set can implement a class H functin.

    2\ What functions can TAS5825P software + PPC3 + EVM realize (without PPCMB )

Ans: see above , we do not need PPCMB.

    3\ What functions can tas5825p software + ppc3 realize  (without EVM + PPCMB )

Ans: if no evm, customer can fly I2C to TAS5825P in their own board to replace EVM board.

4\ What is the function of XE216-512 in TAS5825P EVM? If it only realizes the functions of USB to I2S and controlling TAS5825 through I2C, can it be replaced by the customer's USB to I2C module (audio input from 3.5 mm analog Jack pcm9211)?

Ans: it is XMOS that can implement: USB-->I2c and I2S.

    Alix

  • Hi Alix,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

But I'm a little confused about 3\: Without EVM, which board I2C can fly to the customer's TAS5825P board? Or do you mean that  in this way customer can use their own TAS5825P board instead of the TAS5825P chip which on EVM

As for 4, my question is: if our customer don't need USB audio input and the audio input is from the 3.5 mm analog jack of pcm9211, can the customer's own USB -- > I2C module replace this part of the functions on the EVM board? In this way, can it connect to ppc3 software through USB to debug the TAS5825P ?

  • Could you give me a further guidance. Looking forward to your reply soon!

  • Hi Amy,

PPC3 GUI has all configurations of the algorithm running in dsp inside TAS5828P. Hence, here only PPC3 GUI and algorithm running in DSP matter rather than EVM board or other.

As to issue 4, USB audio XMOS can provide both I2C and I2S. Here PCM9211 can provide I2S rather than I2C controller signal. Hence, sure, customer can replace XMOS with I2c controller and PCM9211 I2S signal.

    BR,

    Alix Wan.

  • Hi Alix,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

As for TAS5825PEVM, the customer has redesigned the PCB due to the size requirement. Can the source code in XE216-512 be shared ?If yes, could you provide the source code of the XE216-512 ?

  • Looking forward to your reply!

  • Hi Amy,

The source code may not be able to share per my check with team.

But the configurations for TAS5825P can be dumped from PPC3 for configuration of TAS5825P. XMOS is just a tool here.

    Br,

    Alix
