PCM1864-Q1: Hardware-control mode with 3.3V supply

Part Number: PCM1864-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1840, PCM1861, PCM1860

Hi, Team,

The customer would like to double check if there a way to use PCM1864-Q1 in a hardware-control mode (like in Fig 64 of the datasheet) with 3.3V supply.

The customer also wants the number of input channels to be 4ch.

Thanks,

Masaru Oinaga

  • Hello Oinaga-san,

The PCM1864-Q1 is a software controlled ADC and there is not a way to set it up for hardware control.  The device will boot up in a standard mode of operation allowing 4-channel data streaming when clocks are applied, but manipulations away from that default state must be performed through software control.

For a hardware controlled 4-channel ADC, take a look at the PCM1840.

  • Hi Oinaga-san,

The software controlled devices in the PCM186x family do not support HW controlled mode. Only the PCM1860 and PCM1861 support this and they are 2-channel variants.

Another possibility though would be the PCM1840, which is a newer 4-channel HW controlled device.

    Best,

    Zak

  • Hello, Collins-san, Zak-san,

    Thank you for your support.

PCM1840 does not have an automotive rating device; is there any other hardware-controlled 4ch ADC with AEC-Q100 qualified?

    Best Regards,
    Masaru
