TAS5634EVM: Can't work the Audio Interface Board (AIB) input: When using the AIB input, remove jumper J4.

Hi Team

I have removed jumper J4 for the Audio Interface Board (AIB) input.

I have checked the I2S MUX CONTROL signal "MUX_CTL" don't come a High level(3.3V).

The MUX_CTL is pulled up of 10Kohm. It should be come a high level.

I have checked 2 units of TAS5634EVM. Could you teach me how to resolve this problem

    Hi,

    Quite an interesting point... Personally I've never noticed such problem before. I'm thinking if the MCU is doing something to configure its GPIO.

    May I ask how you are feeding the audio input? Is it working well? We may make your board work for you first. Thanks!

    Hi,

    I have the User's Guide SLAU750-October 2017 of TAS5634 Evaluation Module.
    I have followed "2 Quick Start(BTL MODE)".
    2.1 Hardware and Software
    (1)TAS5634EVM is there.
    (2)Power supply is 24VDC.
    (3)Tow 10Ω　resistor loads are there.
    (4)One Optical cable is there.
    (5)Texas Instruments PurePath Console(PPC) isn't there.
    (6)Audio Interface Board of the FPGA and PIC unit is connectid on J8.
    The FPGA is for I2S. PIC is for I2C to control volume by I2c.
    2.2 Connections and Board Configuration(BTL MODE).
    I have followed 1 -4 .
    5. Input Configuration
    (Step 1) I have selected "A. OPTICAL Input" . I have tested volume contorol plogram of PIC. The power current is increse and decrease by volume control. The OPTICAL Input and volume control seem no problem.
    (Step 2)I have selected "D. Audio Interface Board(AIB) input"
    The power current isn't increse and decrease by volume control.
    The I2S signal of FPGA doesn't input.

    2.3 Power Up
    I have followed 1-6.

    It should be working if you followed the EVM guide.

    May I know where and when you got this EVM?

    Hi

    I got 3 units from Digi Key at 2020/Desember. I tested 2 units and results was same.
    Here are labels on 2 units.

    Hi,

    If you look at the schematic, the TAS5634EVM has two options for audio input source,

    1. On-board interface, including the USB, Optical, direct I2S, etc;

    2. AIB(audio interface board) plug-in module. This needs another modular board to feed in the signals by the J8 connector. The module is quite an old one that has been retired.

    Please keep the J4 jumper IN, and use the on-board audio interface for your testing. If you would like to feed the I2S signals directly to TAS5558, please use J10/11/12/13. Thanks!
