TAS5720L: not working

We are working on a project with TAS5720.

We use mediatech MCU to send i2s to TAS5720.

Below is our design diagram. Please note we have had 1 design for this IC series and it is working properly with Samsung ARTIK Smart IoT Platform.

And here is the configuration of the registers we use.

TAS5720 config value

0x01 -> 0xfc
0x02 -> 0x04
0x03 -> 0x90
0x04 -> 0xf4
0x06 -> 0x59
0x08 -> 0x08
0x10 -> 0xff
0x11 -> 0xfc

Can you help me check them for any mistakes in the design as well as the i2c configuration or any solution so i can find the error location.

We have used TAS3251 for mediatech MCU in previous projects and they work properly. I don't think the problem is with the I2S communication.

Please respond as soon as possible. We don't have much time left for this project right now.

Hi Customer,

Can you scope the waveform of MCLK, BCLK, LRCLK for a check？

It is suggested to read out the register to 0x08 to see the status of error that may lead to the non audio output.

Hi Alix,

it is waveform of Data, LRCLK, BCLK and i don't have any wave of MCLK on my design.

the register 0x08 when i play music is 0x08.

i saw something wrong with data and LRCK. Data is too late for LRCLK. I am using 16bit data.

Hi Customer,

TAS5720 needs the MCLK for the right operation and i also see the MCLK in your schematic. Please confirm that.

As to I2S format, If it is 16 bit, please match your I2S source format with TAS5720's settings. Please refer to register 0x02 in datasheet.

Hi Alix,

i tried 12.288 Mhz on MCLK pin but it is not working.

I set 0x02 - 0x04

BCLK/LRCK is 64 and i use 16 bit data.

BCLK =3.05Mhz

LRCK= 48Khz

Tas5720 use mono type.

Can you help me with this issues.

Hi Customer,

Do you have an audio precision for standard I2S source? I see 3.05MHz and 48Khz is not exactly 64 times ratio.

It is strange on my side, do you have an EVM board on your side for correlation?

Alix is correct. The BCLK must be 3.072MHz for proper operation, not 3.05MHz.
