TLV320AIC3100: I2C Auto-increment mode

Part Number: TLV320AIC3100

Hi,

I have a question about Auto-increment mode of I2C.

When using I2C auto-increment mode, are reserved registers skipped on both reads and writes? or is the read / write performed without skipping?

Customers are worried about write-protected reserve registers.

Best regards,

Hiroshi

  • Hello Hiroshi,

These registers are still here and their recommend value should be written when using auto-increment mode.

  •  Hi Aaron,

    For example,  Page 0 / Register 23 and Page 0 / Register 24: Reserved

This register does not have a recommended / default value.
Can I read it once and write the same value?
Or should I skip writing without using Auto-increment mode as well?

    Best regards,
    Hiroshi

  • Hello Hiroshi,

I recommend using auto-increment for consecutive writes that you need to make and not necessarily for all the registers. When powered up, the device registers will be in their Reset Value. If you don't need to configure certain registers, then there is no need to configure them to their Reset Value as they are already configured as such.
