TLV320ADC3140: Manual PLL configuration

Part Number: TLV320ADC3140

Hi,

Can the ADC3140 configure PLL settings manually?

Though it is not described on the datasheet, it looks like to be able to set it on PPC3.

If it is possible,

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

Yes the ADC3140 PLL settings can be manually configured, but since the device does not support all sample rates it is very rare that it would be beneficial to manually configure the PLL and we recommend for most users to use the autoclock configuration.

  • Hi Zak-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

Could you share register information regarding configuring PLL settings?

    Best Regards,

    Kuramocni

  • Hi Kuramochi,

Can you share why your customer is looking to configure the PLL manually and we can help verify proper configuration settings. Are they trying to operate at a non-audio frequency or with an MCLK that is not a supported frequency? There are some things we need to consider when doing this that extend past valid PLL settings.

  • Hi,

ASI Bus Error is occurring on their system.

They would like to try manual configuration to investigate the cause of the error.

    So they need the information.

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

I would suggest using the GUI to program this as it will show you if any of the constraints are violated by coloring the values red. You can also use the I2C monitor to log the registers that are written when you save the configuration.

If you can share the clock configuration they are using though then we can help debug why they are seeing an ASI error.

    Best,

    Zak
