Hello expert,

Do we have any suggested TI solution to replace TS3A227E? It seems like there is no sample available for customer to evaluate in their system and also supply is tight. Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Ann,

    We have 2 other autonomous 3.5mm jack switches but they may / may not fit in the application that you are trying to complete.

    The two other options are the TS3A226AE and TS3A225E. 

    The TS3A226AE is our smallest solution that we offer but it loses the following functionality from the 227E:

    • No way to program device -  no I2C pins. 
    • No Depletion FETs  - humming noise possible when accessory plugged in when VDD = 0V
    • No Key Press Detection Functionality - buttons on accessory aren't supported by the IC itself
    • No Sense Lines - these lines help improve detection accuracy on the other two devices. 

      This device is a good choice if you want a simple detection scheme and you don't want to configure the device away from default settings. It supports detection of 3 and 4 pole audio accessories and has the same detection capabilities of the 227E.

    The other option is the TS3A225E, this device offers similar functionality to the 227E, including I2C programming, with the following differences:

    • No /INT pin on I2C communication - no independent Interrupt flag pin from the IC.
    • No Depletion FETs  - humming noise possible when accessory plugged in when VDD = 0V
    • No Key Press Detection Functionality - buttons on accessory aren't supported by the IC itself

      This device is a good choice if you want to retain the ability to configure the device via I2C but with the lack of an /INT pin some firmware changes would have to be made that would be slightly different from the 227E. It offers the same detection scheme as the other two devices and can autonomously route the inserted accessory correctly. 

    If you are using key press detection in the application this will have to handled a different way as the other two options we have do not have this feature integrated within. But if that isn't part of the application one of the other devices should be able to meet a lot of the applications needs.
