hello experts,

looking to make a 1khz sinewave and PCM5142 is quite applicable. it'll be even better if the internal circuit like miniDSP can make such sinewave directly without external I2S data input?

Hi David,

Yes, it is possible. In PurePath Studio there are some tone generating components that can be used for this. The device still needs a reference clock for the SCK. So you will still need to provide the SCK signal.

hello Paul, should there be additional filters applied after generated tone or it's already at the best performance ? e.g., use biquard or other filters to further smooth generated ~1khz tone?

You should still get good performance with just the out-of-band filter. From an analog perspective the noise should start at around 190kHz.
