TPA3116D2 temperature is about 60C degree without audio signal input and BTL output open

Hi,

We have a 5.1 channel application, we use 4 pcs TPA3116D2,

Q1: how to set the master and slave on the 4 parts.

Q2: we now set the bass channel as slave and set other 5 channel as master, the bass channel TPA3116 conected

to one master TPA3116, other 2 TPA3116 is independent. The problem is the temperature of four TPA3116

is higher, about 60C degree even no audio signal input and BLT output through LC filter open.

We think the temperatur is too high. we can not position the root cause.

Can you help on this?

Hi Paul,

We found if we use single TAP3116D2 in the same PCB, the temperature is OK,

if we used two or three or four, The temperature will be higher, the more we use ,

the temperature will be the more higher.

Is this caused by internal amplifier self-excitation?

How did you measure the temperature?

All the TPA3116D2 ICs share the same heat sink? Did you measure the temperature at idle?

You may also want to add the load to the outputs and see if the temperature is still high.

What kind of inductors are used? Do you have the spec?
