TPA3110D2 input and maxim power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3110D2, TPA3111D1

Hi TI,

For my design I'm using TPA3110D2 and  PBTL output 8Ohm.

My Audio Source have 4 Outputs (R_P, R_N, L_P and L_N).

When I connect Single-Ended Input  (R_P -12 and GND -11) sounds good but  Can I connect all the Outputs from my audio Source in the TPA3110D2 respectly? Will I get more power? What is the configuration for maxim power with mono Load?

  • Hi, Guillermo,

We have a device specifically for mono applications, the TPA3111D1. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Inputs don't really affect output power. You will get 2x the input signal if you use differential inputs with the same gain in the amplifier (6 dB more, to be exact).

  • Hi Don

I also have the TPA110D2 on a board to support 2 speaker output now
I know we can do different configurations as in you r diagram for single output

since the board is already made for the stereo mode( 2 speaker output)
can we just parallel the 2 speaker outputs together? (+ to + and - to -)
Our input for right and left will be the same exact signal
if so will we get double the power to a single( 4 ohm) speaker from 15w to 30w

    Thanks!

  • Hi, Allen
Can you share your new schematic again? If you want to parallel the 2 speaker output together (+ to + and - to -), make sure the Class D is set to PBTL mode (PIN14 should be pull up to AVCC). Or maybe cause some reliability problem, for example OC fault.
  • Hi, Allen
Have you already solved your problem? Any update?
  • No

We tried putting the outputs in parallel but are loosing the mid frequencies

Should we take the pin 14 to VCC then parallel as we have it now?

The reason I say that is the output schematic you have shows many

changes if you want to go with 1 speaker output. (we cant make the

changes since boards are already made and populated..but we can make

the small change to take #14 to vcc)

  • Hi, Allen

Yes, you can pull up PIN14 (PBTL) to PVCC, TPA3110D2 will also enter into PBTL mode.
