Tas5508/tas5342 GUI volume control [slac319a]

HI

I'm using the GUI for the eval board TAS5342DVV6EVM version 4.0 RevA. I'm having issues with the volume control, it does not adjust. Nothing comes out until the input hits a certain level and I get max volume. The volume control seems to adjust the threshold level. I'm certain the volume worked like a volume control before, being able to set the input and adjust the output. So I believe I changed something and I have not been able to figure out what that was.

FYI,  I have been running the GUI on Windows 7 and XP with no difference in preformance. Everything seems to be fine,

I would appreciate any help, I have a presentation of the system design coming up and its a bit loud. To compensate I turn the input source way down but then it's close to the noise floor and you hear the niose well.

Thanks

  • Hi Tom:

The GUI is written for WinXP.  It may work with other OS's partially but it mainly was designed for WinXP.

About the volume control, you may want to reset the part, then adjust the volume (without sending it a configuration file or any other I2C commands) and verify that the hardware and PC interface work fine.  If you implemented the DRC function or change volume slew rate 0xD0, it will change the response time.  You may have to create several configuration files (e.g. DRC.cfg, Treble-Bass.cfg, LPF.cfg)  to isolate which function causes your volume update issue.

    Best regards,

    Tuan
