PCM1864 in TDM mode data length support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1864

"Since the PCM186X parts require that you have BCK at 256*fs, you will always have the capacity for 8 channels on the TDM bus."

1、how to understand "8 channels on the TDM bus"?  4 channels on Left time ,4 channels on right time?

2、how about slot time for each channel when PCM1864 work in 8 channels on the TDM bus?   32 clock for each channel?

3、we need the  TDM time diagram, where can it get from?

  • Hi,

    1. The TDM interface can handle up to 8 channels of PCM data with 32 bits per channel per audio frame. These 8 channels are defined by the input as to what their content is. To reach 8 channel output on a TDM bus, two PCM1864s would need to be used. Each having 4 ADCs, would produce a total of 8 channels of audio per frame.

    2. This depends on the resolution you choose in the registers. 32 bit will be 24 bit audio with 8 bits of padding per channel. The other settings, 16, 20, and 24 bit will have no padding between channels. This is shown below in the figure.

    3.

  • Dear Sir,

Do you have more document for setting PCM1864 in TDM mode?
