TLV320DAC32 bass/treble filter settings

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC32, TLV320DAC32EVM-PDK, TLV320DAC32EVM

I'm using a TLV320DAC32 in a design and one of the requirements is for bass and treble controls.  I have a TLV320DAC32EVM-PDK evaluation board and am using the TLV320DAC32EVM software.  I've found that with the software I'm able to generate filter coefficients for bass and treble shelf filters separately. However, I don't understand how I can combine the generated filter coefficients so that I can get a combined bass shelf + treble shelf filter. This is needed as it would allow the user to boost the bass and treble independently.

Could someone guide me as to how I combine the generated filters and get out the filter coefficients that are used by the TLV320DAC32?

Thank you,

Sheldon

  • Hi, Sheldon,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products.

The TLV320DAC32 supports digital audio processing. This consists of optional filters for de-emphasis, bass, treble, equalization, 3-D effects, etc.  These blocks are possible with the internal biquads (see Digital Audio Processing section for details). Each biquad can be programmed to define a filter. It is just required to configure the coefficients to get the correct filter. These coefficients can be obtained with the help of the TI Coefficient Calculator. The bass shelf and treble shelf filters can be configured with this tool.

Please let me know if you have more questions or comments.

  • Hello Luis,

Thank you for the quick reply! It's much appreciated.

Also thanks for the link to the Coefficient Calculator it did the trick!
